Submission Guidelines

Your guide to submitting high-quality research to the South Asian Journal of Geriatric Medicine.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the South Asian Journal of Geriatric Medicine, Surgery, Palliative Care & Hospice. To ensure a smooth and efficient submission process, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Manuscript Types

We accept the following types of manuscripts:

Original Research Articles

- Detailed reports of original research studies, including methodology, results, and conclusions.

Review Articles

- Comprehensive reviews of current literature on specific topics within geriatrics, surgery, palliative care, or hospice services.

Case Reports

- Descriptions of unique or significant clinical cases with implications for practice.

Commentaries and Editorials

- Opinions and discussions on current issues, advancements, or controversies in the field.

Letters to the Editor

- Brief communications regarding previously published articles or relevant topics of interest.

Manuscript Preparation & Submission Guidelines

To ensure a smooth submission process, please follow these guidelines:

  • Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman), size 12, and double-spaced text. 
  • Title Page: Include the title, author names, affiliations, and contact details of the corresponding author. 
  • Abstract: Provide a concise abstract (150-250 words) summarizing the study’s purpose, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords relevant to your manuscript. 
  • Main Text: Structure the main text into sections (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion). 
  • References: Follow Vancouver style for all citations and references. Ensure that all references are complete and relevant. 
  • Figures & Tables: Include figures and tables within the text, along with captions.
  • Ethical Considerations: Ensure that all research involving human subjects has been approved by an appropriate ethics committee and that consent has been obtained where necessary.
Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements.
Submission Process

To submit your manuscript, please follow these steps:

1. Register: Create an account on our online submission portal.

2. Prepare Your Files: Ensure that your manuscript, figures, and supplementary materials are ready.

3. Upload: Follow the instructions to upload your manuscript and required information.

4. Cover Letter: Include a cover letter outlining the significance of your work and confirming that it has not been published elsewhere.

5. Submit: Once your files are uploaded, submit your manuscript for review.

6. Peer Review: All submitted manuscripts will undergo a peer review process. You may be asked to provide revisions based on reviewer feedback.

Ethical Standards

We expect all authors to adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration by another journal.
  • Authorship: List all contributors who meet the criteria for authorship. All authors should be aware of and approve the submission.
  • Informed Consent: Research involving human subjects must include a statement confirming informed consent from participants.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest related to their research.
  • Plagiarism Policy: Manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software. Submissions found to have plagiarized content will be rejected. (View our plagiarism Policy)
